Have you ever been driving behind a semi-trailer hauling long objects like telephone poles, concrete beams, etc., and a scene comes to mind from a horror movie where something caused that long object to dislodge and then it came crashing down on the hapless vehicle behind it? Well this Wednesday saw such a scene enacted in real life when an 18-wheeler jackknifed and its load, a long concrete beam, came crashing over the hood of a car and then whacked a pickup truck for good measure.
The beam ended up blocking both lanes of the frontage road of IH 35 in Salado. Meanwhile, the cab and folded up rig were being unhinged by crews working to clear southbound IH 35. TxDOT indicated that no injuries were reported.
