Tractor-trailer Operator Causes Fatal Accident

A Herkimer man was ticketed after his tractor trailer struck and killed a tow truck operator standing alongside the state Thruway near Syracuse Sunday night, state troopers said.   Kurt Brown, 40, was driving a tandem tractor trailer for Estes Express on Interstate 90 when his vehicle  struck Todd Young, 53, of Mattydale, N.Y., alongside the south shoulder in the eastbound lane of the highway shortly after 11 p.m., troopers said.  Young was working for Northern Lights Towing of Mattydale when he was outside his town truck while loading a disabled vehicle, at mile post marker 275 in the town of Manlius, troopers said. The disabled vehicle was driven by Kevin Woloszyn, 20, of Delevan, N.Y.  Brown was ticketed for moving from a lane unsafely, troopers said.
